Postal money order APO 21

Description:

Captain Albert W. Schreck of the 524th Army Postal Unit purchased this postal money order in the amount of $1.00, payable to his wife, Mrs. A. W. Schreck. Along with the written figure, the left hand side of the money order has been to cut to show only the desired sum of $1.00. Schreck's money order, serial number 1, was obtained from A.P.O. 21, the Army Post Office in Marseilles, France. This money order was purchased on September 20, 1944, only six days after the opening of A.P.O. 21 in Marseilles. Although bearing no indication that it was cashed, Mrs. Schreck would have redeemed the money order at the Lexington, Kentucky Post Office.
