Telegram to Harry Hartung, September, 1918

Description:

Captain Benjamin B. Lipsner writes a Post Office telegram to Harry L. Hartung, Belmont Park, New York, Post Office representative, instructing him to tell pilot Edward Gardner that when he reaches Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, he will receive a map and directions to the Cleveland field from A. F. Cryder.

Gardner will be flying a two-seat biplane with Edward C. Radel, whom Lipsner appointed chief mechanic when he acquired his position as first superintendent of Air Mail Service. Cryder, appointed to assist Radel, served as both mechanic and rigger.
