Photocopy of photograph of Bible given to Pony Express riders

This is a black and white photograph of a Bible given to all employees of the Pony Express service by Alexander Majors, an original founder of the Pony Express. Majors made each employee take an oath not to swear, drink, or fight during their employment. While each rider, driver and other company employees agreed to the oath, it is clear from contemporary accounts such as those from explorer Sir Richard Burton that few employees kept their oaths.
