4c South-East Asian Treaty Organization (SEATO) single
This SEATO Issue stamp commemorates the meeting of the South East Asia Treaty Organization in Washington, DC from May 31 to June 3, 1960. The South East Treaty Organization is an international organization for the collective defense in Southeast Asia. The organization was created in 1954 after the signing of the Southeast Asia Collective Defense Treaty in Manila, Philippines. One of the main factors for its creation was to block communist forces in the region. The organization dissolved in 1977. The stamp features an image of the SEATO emblem, a globe with a laurel brance.
