This Carolina Charter Issue stamp commemorates the tercentennial of the Carolina Charter which established the Province of Carolina. King Charles II of England granted eight Englishmen, known as the Lords Proprietors, title to land extending roughly along the present southern border of Virginia to the present northern border of Florida. The stamp features an image of the first page of the Carolina Charter and a quill pen.
