This Malaria Eradication Issue stamp was issued to bring awareness to the World Health Organization’s campaign to eradicate malaria. Malaria is a mosquito-borne infectious disease caused by a parasite. Efforts to eradicate or lessen malaria transmissions include vaccine development, habitat and climate studies and mosquito net distribution. The stamp features an image of the Great Seal of the United States and the World Health Organization’s Symbol, a Rod of Asclepius in a globe, surrounded by laurel branches.
