This Savings Bond-Servicemen Issue stamp commemorates the 25th anniversary of the modern US Savings Bond program and honors American servicemen. In 1941, the Series E Bond was introduced by the United States Treasury Department. They were used as defense, or war, bonds to help finance the Second World War, but also served as safe investment to the American people. The stamp features an image of the State of Liberty and the flag of the United States.
