Jackie Robinson (1919-1972) is best known for breaking the color barrier in Major League Baseball in 1947. For their presentation, the kids shared how he faced discrimination and racial slurs in both his military career (he was arrested for refusing to move to the back of the bus while serving as an Army Lieutenant in 1944) and his subsequent years as a star baseball player.
