On May 21, 2010, Alexander Haimann, a Collections Specialist at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum conducted a half-day exhibit workshop with 5th graders at Cranbrook Schools Brookside (Bloomfield Hills, Michigan).
Before the workshop, students chose important figures in American history and then prepared reasons why these Americans should be included in an online exhibit.
The workshop explored the difficulties in selecting and grouping these famous Americans. Additionally, students learned about online exhibit design, layout and object selection.
Every aspect of the following online exhibit highlighting a diverse group of famous Americans was selected, written and organized by these Cranbrook Schools Brookside 5th grade students.
