FREE FRANK SIGNED BY BENJAMIN FRANKLIN, APRIL 1765. This folded cover with additional page was posted to John Hancock, Merchant, Boston. A third party wrote the letter, but Franklin posted it, probably as a favor.

BENJAMIN FRANKLIN TO MRS. HOPKINSON, PHILADELPHIA, 1766. Free frank cover sent from London, England, to New York via Packet Boat. This cover is signed "B Free Franklin" by Benjamin Franklin, who served as Deputy Postmaster General.

Enclosed letter is dated May 9, 1766. This red circular Free marking was used in London beginning in 1766.
