Introduction (Continued)

This program provides many opportunities for two different generations to share, compare and learn about historical heroes and local heroes, as well as communication methods, past and present. In partnering, the students from Rosa Parks Middle School and volunteers from Montgomery County Interages foster the development of respect and understanding between the generations. In addition to selecting their stamp heroes, they also discussed local heroes and their own personal heroes.

Heroes on Stamps is being dedicated in memory of Interages hero, Elaine Lessenco. She helped hundreds of children and youth in Montgomery County, Maryland. Every Heroes program will have a component about local heroes and students will learn what one person can do to make a difference in an entire community.
