Andrew Carnegie Issue

The Department issued this 4-cent stamp on November 25, 1960, through the New York, New York, post office, in honor of Andrew Carnegie (1835-1919), industrialist, philanthropist, and founder of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

Designed by Charles R. Chickering, the stamp was printed by the rotary process, electric-eye perforated, and issued in panes of seventy stamps each. An initial printing of 120 million stamps was authorized.
