Since the mid-1950s, almost every American child has come to know Theodor Seuss Geisel's books or characters. Numerous Disney characters-including Bambi, Pinocchio, and Mickey Mouse-were depicted on postage stamps during this period as part of two separate series of four stamps. Jim Henson and his world famous Muppets made a splash in 2005 with a sheet of eleven stamps featuring thirteen different Muppet characters and Henson.
