The 10-cent Fort Harrod commemorative stamp was first placed on sale at Harrodsburg, Kentucky, on June 15, 1974. Fort Harrod was the first permanent settlement in Kentucky. The stamp was released on the 200th anniversary of James Harrod's founding of the settlement.
The stamp was designed by David K. Stone and was issued in sheets of fifty, with an initial printing of 140 million.
