1972 American Bicentennial Craftsmen Issue

The 8-cent American Revolution Bicentennial commemorative stamps were first placed on sale at Williamsburg, Virginia, on July 4, 1972. These stamps were the second in a series planned for issuance through 1976.

The stamps, commemorating Revolutionary-era craftsmen, were designed by Leonard Everett Fisher and were issued in sheets of fifty, with an initial printing of 135 million.
