Five Christmas stamps were issued in Washington, DC, on November 5, 1970.

The 6-cent "Nativity" stamp is based on the painting by Lorenzo Lotto. The stamp was designed by Howard C. Mildner and was issued in panes of fifty, with an initial printing of 875 million.

Four 6-cent Christmas toy stamps were also issued. The toys featured on the stamps include a locomotive, toy horse, tricycle and a doll carriage. The stamps were designed by Stevan Dohanos and were issued in panes of fifty (four stamps different designs), with an initial printing of 875 million.
