This 5-cent Beautification of America commemorative postage stamp was first placed on sale in Washington, DC, on October 5, 1966. It was issued to publicize President Lyndon Johnson's "Plant for a more beautiful America" campaign.
Designed by Gyo Fujikawa, the stamp was printed on the Giori press and issued in panes of fifty stamps each. An initial printing of 120 million stamps was authorized.
