International Telecommunication Union Issue

The 11-cent International Telecommunication Union commemorative postage stamp, intended primarily for use on international surface mail, was issued on October 6, 1965, in Washington, DC. This stamp marked the 100th Anniversary of the International Telecommunication Union.

Designed by Thomas F. Naegele, the stamp features a series of curves over the Galt projection of a world map, which is symbolic of a radio sine wave. Below this in Morse code ITU is spelled four times.

The stamp was printed on the Giori press and issued in panes of fifty.
