The Department issued this 4-cent stamp commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America on July 24, 1962, through the Burlington, Vermont, post office.
Designed by Ward Brackett, the stamp portrays an intermediate Girl Scout in uniform, with an American flag in the background.
The stamp was printed by the rotary process, electric-eye perforated, and issued in panes of fifty stamps each. An initial printing of 120 million stamps was authorized.
