The 3.1-cent brown and yellow 1979 stamp of the Americana Issue celebrates American music, picturing a six-string guitar with the wording "Listen With Love to the Music of the Land." A service-inscribed issue for use by authorized non-profit organizations, the stamp was produced in coil format. The stamp was first placed on sale at Baltimore, Maryland, on October 25, 1979. George Mercer designed the stamp, which was issued in coils of 500 and 3,000.
