Folded letter from Paris office at Place de la Bourse
Description:
This folded letter originated from the Paris office at Place de la Bourse on December 5, 1870, (third collection) and was prepaid 30 centimes for the ordinary letter rate to Belgium, “Par Ballon Monté.” Based on the date of collection plus the Bruxelles arrival datestamp of December 10, 1870, it is possible that this letter was carried out of Paris by the balloon Denis Papin or, even more likely, the Armée de Bretagne.
