Folded letter from Paris office at Rue de Bondy
This folded letter originated from the Paris office at Rue de Bondy on October 7, 1870, (sixth collection) and was prepaid 20 centimes for the French internal letter rate to Angouleme, “Par Ballon Monté.”
It is impossible to determine with certainty which balloon carried this letter out of Paris, but with an Angouleme arrival date of October 18, 1870, and the absence of other transit markings, it is likely that the Godefroy Cavaignac, the Jean Bart No. 1, or the Jules Favre No. 1 provided the aerial transit.
Date:
Paris/R. de Bondy (collection) 7 October 1870
Angouleme (arrival) 18 October 1870
