World War II Patriotic cover
"The Ramparts We Watch"
The words of the cachet recall Francis Scott Key's lyrics for the national anthem — written when America was under attack in an earlier conflict — the shelling of Fort McHenry in Baltimore, Maryland's harbor by the British in the War of 1812.
A three-cent United States Scott 905 is affixed to the cover postmarked Niagara Falls, New York, October 15, 1943. Jacques Minkus of New York City published this cachet.
