The fall of Bataan in the Philippines and the ensuing forced march of U.S. prisoners of war helped to galvanize the American people's desire for victory. United States two-cent Scott 907 and one-cent Scott 908 are affixed to this cachet cover postmarked New York, New York, April 17, 1943. Walter Poppenger of Akron, Ohio, produced this cachet.
