Since no further use can be made of them, the engraving firm suggests the destruction of the dies and plates of the 5-cent and 10-cent stamps.
As of July 1, 1851, the Issue of 1851 had superseded the 1847 Issue. The new stamps were engraved and printed by Toppan, Carpenter, Casilear & Company of Philadelphia.
