Owney would have received this baggage check token while on the Oregon and California Railroad. The O&C began in Oregon and operated from 1869-1972, although the line did not cross the California border until 1887, a year before Owney began his travels. This baggage check token was created by William W. Wilcox, a Chicago-based manufacturer.
