Lindbergh cachet handstamp
October 22, 1927, was celebrated as 'Lindbergh Day' in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The "Spirit of St. Louis" landed at Philadelphia's airport at 2:00 p.m., piloted by Charles Lindbergh. During his visit, the newly-famous aviator raised the U.S. flag to dedicate the Philadelphia Municipal Airport. This occurred during a tour of the United States after his solo flight from New York to Paris.
An imprint from this rubber stamp is a 'cachet'. It was designed for private use on covers to commemorate Mr. Lindbergh's visit.
