The town was served by a number of railway lines, including the Chicago & Northwest; Mobile & Chicago; Louisville & Nashville; Chicago & Eastern Illinois; Chicago & Alton; Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul; and the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago & St. Louis lines.
