Arago: Personal Identification Tokens

Owney received this identification token from W. M. Bettersworth of Jackson, Mississippi. The token is dated1895. The token’s design shows that Bettersworth was a member of the Knights of Pythius, the “FCB” in the design standing for “friendship, charity, and benevolence.” There is no information with the token to indicate Bettersworth relationship with the Post Office Department, if any.
