"Le Poney Express" Wild West Poster
Description:
This poster, from Buffalo Bill's Wild West and Rough Riders of the World traveling show was used to advertise the show during its Paris, France, appearance at the 1889 Paris Universal Exposition. The bottom half of the poster shows a Pony Express rider leaping onto his stead to continue his journey. The "US Mail" bag was an attention getting addition to the poster, but quite inaccurate. Instead of a bag marked "US Mail," riders used leather mochilas to carry the mail.
