Aviation meet postal card
During Sacramento's Agricultural Park Race Track Aviation Meet, Postmaster Thomas Fox authorized the dispatch of mail by aeroplane. Aviator Roy N. Francis flew a sack of mail each day a distance of about one mile to the Oak Park Branch of the Sacramento Post Office. All known mail was postmarked April 19.
This postal card, addressed simply to "Bresee," Davis, California, bears the postmark applied for the flight canceling the 1-cent McKinley indicia. The magenta-colored postmark reads, "AVIATION STATION / SACRAMENTO, CA. 3 P.M. / April 19, 1913."
