Aviation Exhibition post card
Lincoln Beachey flew mail on both days from the Plainfield, New Jersey, Driving Park Aviation Exhibition to a field in South Plainfield, where he dropped it to waiting postal officials. The exhibition took place August 23-24, 1912. The Post Office Department assigned Route No. 609,004. Beachey flew 1,351 pieces of mail on August 23 and 1,942 pieces on August 24.
Beachey flew this card, addressed to Miss S. E. Huyler, Plainfield, New Jersey, on August 24. The purple-colored, circular postmark cancels the 1-cent Washington stamp. It reads, “PLAINFIELD, N.J. / August 24 / 1912 / AEROPLANE MAIL.”
