Aviation Exhibition post card
The Post Office Department officially authorized mail flights from August 20 through August 24, 1912, at the Rockport (Indiana) Fair Grounds Aviation Exhibition, but flights occurred only between August 21 and 23. Horace Kearney flew about 3,500 pieces of mail during the three days over Route No. 633,003. Souvenir postcards printed for the exhibition comprised the bulk of the mail. Officials applied the postmark in black or in various shades of red.
This souvenir card addressed to Naoma Eskidge bears the red postmark.
