June 4, 1875, printed freight circular of C. Tobias & Co. of New York to Arendal, Norway, paid four-cent per ounce book packet rate, which included printed circulars, under United States-Sweden/Norway Convention effective July 1, 1873. Payment made with a horizontal pair of two-cent red brown 1870 National Bank Note Company adhesives with grills. New York exchange office clerk applied red orange PAID ALL handstamp. Circular probably carried in closed mailbag on North German Lloyd steamship “Mosel” from New York (June 5) to Southampton (June 15) and then either directly to Christiana or in closed mail via Germany and Denmark. There is no arrival datestamp or other information to determine the routing.
