Description:
Adhesive provisional on envelope postmarked New Orleans, Louisiana, and sent to Breaux’s Bridge, Louisiana.
The New Orleans provisional stamps were printed by John V. Childs on the order of John Riddell, the local postmaster. The designs were engraved on wood from which stereotypes were made and mounted on wooden bases to form the actual printing plates.
