This 5-cent Christmas postage stamp was first placed on sale through the Santa Claus, Indiana, post office on November 1, 1963. It remained on sale at the post office through December 31, 1963. Designed by Lily Spandorf and modified by Norman Todhunter, this stamp's image represents the National Christmas tree on the eastern Ellipse near the White House.
This stamp was printed on the Giori press and issued in panes of 100 stamps each. The printing of two billion stamps was authorized.
