1971 Wildlife Conservation Issue
Four 8-cent Wildlife Conservation Series stamps were first placed on sale at Avery Island, Louisiana, on June 12, 1971. A printing order of 150 million stamps in sheets of thirty-two was authorized. Designed by Stanley W. Galli, the stamps were lithographed and engraved (Giori).
