The 8-cent Parent Teacher Association commemorative postage stamp was first placed on sale at San Francisco, California, on September 15, 1972. The stamp commemorates the 75th Anniversary of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), which was founded 1897. The PTA's mission has and continues to be "for the education and the well being of every child."
The stamp was designed by Arthur S. Congdon III and was issued in sheets of fifty, with an initial printing of 135 million.
